Chaos and Chamomile

There are few certainties in life. Just two, really. You will die one day. And, change, it is inevitable. No matter how hard you try to create order, order cannot be controlled. Things happen or they don’t happen, and too many times it has nothing to do with anything you planned. You must expect the unexpected.

That’s called chaos.

It’s the theory that things are effectively impossible to predict or control, like the weather, the stock market, an accident on the interstate, your whole entire life. Although chaos theory centers on nonlinear events, I pretty much believe chaos is a part of everything.

It is the only way I can make sense of things that don’t make sense. Some people specifically call this faith, but whatever you call it, the outcome is the same. There is very little you can actually control, and believing that is freeing.

Of course, I’m like most humans: I want things to go a certain way, and I try to make things go that direction, and when they don’t, I’m wondering if I could have done XYZ thing differently.

But, the truth is… It’s useless to think that way. The event is done, it’s over, and now you have to pick up the pieces and redefine your life. Now, you have to be chamomile.

You can’t conceive the next best step for yourself if you are marred in the stress that inevitable change could create. Just know it’s a part of life, and it’s not the end of the world. Face it, push through. Release guilt, release blame.
Everything, thankfully, is not up to you.
